Power consumption (watts): idle/TDP 18.5/30 22/54 22.5/65
The LP-2180 Server Family is a micro server, but not like any other. Most common configurations consume less than 20 watts at idle, and never consume more than 30 watts. Internal storage options range from 2 internal cabled drives to 8 hot plug drives, for a total of 8TB of storage. Ideal for home and small business server use, the LP-2180 also makes for a great cluster component with its tight TDP ceiling. You can literally run more than 701 of these in a 20A rack with power to spare! The LP-2220 and LP-4240 is the server you need if you don't want to send all your money to the electric company, but do need to run CPU intensive server applications, like heavy duty Tomcat or Ruby web applications. The 2220 comes with dual cores, quad threads, and is more CPU than most applications need. The 4240 is a quad core, eight thread bulldozer, and is appropriate for compile farms or other CPU intensive applications, at the cost of a higher TDP and price. The LP-6240 family boasts tiny power consumption in a 6 core server with extra large available memory configurations. This server family is excellent for web servers with less CPU intensive applications, but requiring higher page hits per minute than an LP-2220. It also is the quintessential memcached server, with six cores, 9MiB cache, and up to 64GiB DDR3 ECC memory.
