Thanks Kumar. Unless Andy objects, sounds like you need to change the
newsyslog.conf file so it points to the right onstor directory, and fix
verify_install.in for the upgrade.

I don't think we need to modify the way Linux rotates logs in general.

Headline: Bobcat Cougar - at what point do we zip
/var/log/onstor/messages?
id: TED00022254
Note_Entry: First, in Bobcat/Cheetah messages are not getting rotated
because of the reason that the file "/etc/newsyslog.conf" still contains
the old file name "/var/agile/messages" instead of new file
"/etc/var/log/onstor/messages". This conf file will be used by
newsyslog program to rotate the files.
While upgrading the filer this file is not being upgraded because it is
a configuration file. This problem can be handled in verify_install.in.

In cougar, log rotation happens in slightly different way. It rotates
the logs daily if and only if its size exceeds 1MB(except for syslog
which will be rotated daily irrespective of its size).
If we need to change this behavior we need to change debian linux
script files /usr/sbin/syslogd-listfiles and/or some of the crontab
files in /etc. =20

Let me know if I am too confusing or you need any clarification.=20

Thanks,
Kumar.
