I assume she's referring to the dw.

System log is log messages from standard operating system utilities,
such as cron, email, the kernel; as opposed to our utilities which log
to the elog.  Size is not reserved or fixed, but shares a 200MiB
partition with core files, dumps, elogs and spool files.

A checksum is used.
