By putting to use a lot of begging and sad puppy dog faces, I've managed
to convince Max to do an initial swak at porting ssc-vsd, leaving very
simple, easily identifiable functions and chunks that remain to be
ported that Wencheng can tackle.  It just seems the whole job was a bit
too much for W. to wrap his head around without me having to direct his
every keystroke.  I'll talk to Wencheng and let him know what's going
on.
