Jerry

I have asked Tom and Narayan to do a business case for ISCSI in terms of
what Cougar would look like with it and without it. I will leave it to
Tom and Narayan to give us their input relative to completion date.

Regards

Bob

Cougar is moving along, so I think we need to make the following
decisions:

=20

1. Would we ship Cougar without iSCSI target support?

2. If so, how long after FCS without iSCSI target support must it be
added?

=20

Once we have the answers to these questions, we can continue our
planning. We can't get to a Phase 2 without answering these.

=20

Bob, how do you see us moving towards an answer on these 2 questions?
Is it Narayan's call, your call, Tom's call, or ??

=20

thx

Sudheesh,

=20

Yes, there's a big difference with respect to implementation. For
initiator support, we've looked at a hardware solution based on QLogic
chipsets that would be very similar to our current FC solution. For
target support, we've primarily looked at a software solution that would
run on the SiBytes like the TCP stack today. We could also look at a
hardware solution since Cougar supports expansion, but this wouldn't be
possible on Bobcat.

Tom is probably talking about target. However Brian, is there a
significant effort difference between a target implementation and
initiator implementation? (Considering all the software certification
that will be needed for a target as opposed to an initiator
implementation and qualification of couple of arrays may be a hardware
effort mostly)

=20

We also have seen some keen interest from major vendors recently to use
bobcat as a head.=20

Hi Tom,

=20

Are you referring to iSCSI initiator or target support?

Thanks,

All,

Thanks Bob.

My point is that you can't announce our new hardware platform for 2008
and not have iSCSI. It is becoming an Industry standard to offer iSCSI.
We need a plan to include iSCSI preferably from the launch.

My 2cents,

Tom G.

On behalf of Tom G there was a lot of discussion on Saturday as to
whether we need iSCSI support when we introduce Cougar. I believe this
should be addressed as an add on business opportunity for Cougar.

Bob

Subject: Minutes from 4/20 Cougar Phase 1 Exit Review

All,

Thanks to everyone who participated in Friday's Cougar Requirements
Review (Phase 1 Exit)! The unanimous decision was for the team to
proceed into the Phase 2 (Planning) stage with the Planning Review
(Phase 2 exit) targeted for the first week in May.

Use the following link to review the presentation material:

\\mightydog\Program Management\Cougar\Phase Reviews\Requirements Review\
Requirements Review Agenda 04-20-07.ppt
<file:///\\mightydog\Program%20Management\Cougar\Phase%20Reviews\Require
ments%20Review\%20Requirements%20Review%20Agenda%2004-20-07.ppt>=20

Here are the actions/comments I took down. =20

	1.	Although Cougar is targeted for IDC Band 4 though 6, Tom
asked if we were considering introducing a product for Band 3, which
clearly is a huge emerging market. Narayan stated there were no plans
to do this in 2007 or 2008, but it could certainly be discussed as part
of the overall company strategy.=20

	2.	Tom wanted to make sure "Customer Ease of Use" is a key
driver for Cougar. Narayan's MRD has many "ease of use" requirements,
and he agreed to move them into a "ease of use" category and highlight
this as a key driver.=20

	3.	The beta release in October is a hard requirement. This
is for the system (both HW and SW). Only a single model (lo-mid, mid,
or hi-mid) needs to beta.=20

	4.	The requirements for the Cougar high-end model targeted
for launch in the middle of 2008 was not included in this Phase 1 Exit
Review. Andy to work out when this can or should take place.=20

	5.	Narayan was questioned about his strategy of moving away
from Bobcat's 1U form factor. The cluster-in-a-box solution is the main
motivator for moving to 2U. This will be a cost effective solution and
a key differentiator from our competitors.=20

	6.	Need cost targets for optional ports. Brian Stark to
work this with Ops.=20

	7.	Both Jerry and Sudheesh stressed that Cougar must meet
its performance targets to be competitive.=20

	8.	Narayan needs to clarify his definition of DOA. If DOA
requirement is no service calls for 30 days on 99% of the systems, then
this is much more stringent than Bobcat currently meets. To achieve this
may require a longer (i.e. 3-day) burn in.=20

	9.	Caeli wanted to make sure any information a customer
needs to gather does not have to be obtained from the console. Narayan
said this is already in the MRD.=20

	10.	Narayan needs to add documentation requirements to the
MRD.=20

	11.	For the business case, Bob wants to see how the forecast
for Cougar added to Pantera and SW meets the target quarterly revenue.
Narayan will do this before or at the Phase 2 exit review.=20

=20

Please respond to all on this e-mail if you have any additions or
clarifications. I will track the Cougar related tasks to completion.

Regards,

Andy
