it is still quite usable.

Understanding your (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) daemons

A Unix daemon is a program that runs in the "background," enabling you
to do other work in the "foreground," and is independent of control from
a terminal. Daemons can either be started by a process, such as a system
startup script, where there is no controlling terminal, or by a user at
a terminal without "tying up" that terminal as the daemon runs. But
which daemons can you safely play with? Which should you leave running?

March 14th is the birthday of physicist Albert Einstein. Happy birthday,
Einstein. We couldn't be more thrilled for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 to
share your special day. Just as Einstein had rewrote the base laws of
physics, we hope Enteprise Linux 5 will change how CIOs and IT managers
reduce cost while improving operational flexibility.

When I was an undergraduate student a few years ago, I was a member of a
Linux Users' Group (LUG) at my college. At this particular college,
laptops were a requirement, and most students purchased their laptops
directly from the college. At the beginning of each semester, new
students would pick up their laptops at designated spots around campus.

I've always liked Trolltech. They make Qt, the cross platform
application development framework that forms the basis of the K Desktop
Environment (KDE--my desktop of choice). While I don't normally work in
the world of GUI application development, I did like that they provided
the embedded Qtopia product, so they definitely kept my interest.
(Embedded development was my career in a former life). Recently, they've
showcased Qtopia in their Greenphone SDK, a fully functional GSM phone
with a big video touchscreen, running an embedded Linux kernel.
