Hi Mary,

The following is the info on increased TCP connections

=20

Tests run. I ran a combination of test tool which opens us just simple
NFS port sockets and smbtorture.

While the test ran fine, the smbtorture test RW2 seemed to
fail at once we hit more connections (something I am looking at now).
Other smbtorture test were running successfully.

=20

I haven't tested the login performance for smbtorture. For
this I need to modify smbtorture to just keep open cifs connections
without activity so I can scale up just CIFS connections.

=20

Behaviour once we reach 32k connection is same as when the old behaviour
once it reaches 8k . Namely it will simply drop all packets for new
connection request, without responding. On the client side, this will
show as hung and waiting for timeout.

=20

Unit test tools for QA : 1. the test app for opening connection ( you
already have a copy of this)

                                  2. smbtorture

                                  3. I need to modify smbtorture to
allow more connections with no activity. However this is the last item
in my plate now.

=20

Difference between Debug and opt build

=20

No difference, except ofcourse debug build is slower, but has
more assert checks.

=20

Support for 32K tcp connections is dropped in Delorean submittal 7. It
will be nice to have some kind of information from development side.

=20

For example, what are known problems encountered during unit testing?
What is the system's behavior for more than 32k connections? What unit
test tool QA can leverage? Do we expect any difference between debug
build and opt build when running 32k TCP connections?=20
