Hi,

I've attached the block diagram for the Cougar motherboard that has a
standalone SSC processor.  I'm nearly finished with the schematics, and
I will send a netlist to Pat to verify that the additional logic will
fit on the motherboard.  For now, we are starting with a single DIMM,
but we may need to go to soldered-down memory.

As far as cost is concerned, the component prices have come down
substantially since we last looked at this solution.  About a year ago,
the SSC standalone added about $400, but with today's prices, we can do
it for $200-$250.  Factor in the removal of the BCM5715, and the price
looks even better. =20

We can talk more about this architecture in tomorrow's meeting.  At this
point, I would like to make this block diagram the plan of record and
proceed with this design. =20
