Well I took a closer look at the console message and rootpath is blank
whereas Sandrine's system it is filled in.

Sandrine is running the same root filesystem build as I am and we are
both using the same dhcp server with similar entries in the dhcp.conf
file.

Well, I hope you fix it!  There hasn't been any recent changes checked
into the kernel, has there?  You've bonked your console setup.  Anyway,
it should still boot, you just won't get console messages for a while.
