Okay, so much for that assumption then...

Hmm, that whole block of ldap/libtool output looks ugly, but in =
comparing your build to a logfile from a good build snippet:

cd openbsd.new/src/libxml2-2.6.20/build-cross && \
sudo make install =
DESTDIR=3D/perforce/trees/dev/nfx-tree/Build/ch/opt/Release =
CROSSDIR=3D""

make[2]: Entering directory =
`/usr/openbsd-073007-dev/src/libxml2-2.6.20/build-cross'
Making install in include ( continuing on since the last command =
succeeded )
make[3]: Entering directory =
`/usr/openbsd-073007-dev/src/libxml2-2.6.20/build-cross/include'

Your log diverges with:

cd openbsd.new/src/libxml2-2.6.20/build-cross && \
sudo make install =
DESTDIR=3D/home/andys/src/R3_0_1_rel/nfx-tree/Build/bc/dbg/Release =
CROSSDIR=3D""

make[2]: Entering directory =
`/home/andys/src/R3_0_1_rel/openbsd/src/libxml2-2.6.20/build-cross'
 cd .. && /bin/sh /mnt/bsd-mipsel/libxml2-2.6.20/missing --run =
automake-1.9 --gnu
Makefile.am: required file `./COPYING' not found

I don't think that the make install should be invoking automake to =
regenerate anything, should it? If indeed it's been retriggered then the =
COPYING file might not be a part of the source tree which could be why =
it fails.

I know when I build BSD I have to set my p4 client to modtime during =
checkout, then nomodtime for the build or else I get configure trying to =
regenerate something erroneously...could be something like that going on =
here.

I'm building on local disk, /home/andys/...
