I found an interesting Microsoft support article. I think this also
applies when using our product with Vista. Probably the first place to
start with when we get a performance complaint from Vista users

When you copy large files to or from earlier operating systems,
the copy operation may be slower than expected on some Windows
Vista-based computers
	http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932170/en-us

To summarize very roughly :-)
- Vista's enhanced Explorer is slower than XP's.
- Vista's "automatic adjustment for the TCP window size" feature may
negatively impact performance.
