Recently we experienced an unauthorized access into the corporate
storage environment. The employee had good intentions but the result was
massive loss of application data including the corporate helpdesk,
recovery solution data from Altiris and home directories. Access was
gained as we have some systems that have default passwords as IT would
request assistance from QA, Engineering and Customer support. We are in
the process of changing all storage systems passwords to prevent access.
This is a reminder that corporate systems are not to be used as test
environments and all access must first be approved by IT. Corporate
systems are defined by subnets that include 10.0.0.0/24, 10.0.2.0/24 and
10.1.1.0/24. If there are any questions concerning the differentiation
of eLAB and Corporate systems contact John Rogers, John VanderWerf or
myself
