Paul, Sandrine

Would a viable solution be to create a new cluster on the Bobcats, rsync
all data to our dot-hill SAS and SATA storage and then re-ip the
Cheetahs? We only have 5 or so virtual servers so it seems to me that
creating a replica of our Cheetah cluster would take little work. We
would need a few hours on a Sunday to stop all connections to the
mightydog cluster, complete a final rsync and re-ip, the new cluster
and vsvr's to the old.=20

The burden of moving the data is something that we are going to have to
do in any case.

Should we meet and discuss an approach.

You cannot remove from the cluster the filer that has the same name as
the cluster name. And since the cluster name cannot be modified, we're
kind of blocked there. You would have to remove the other filer first,
then Dogfood becomes a single node. But even if you add some Bobcats to
the cluster, you will not be able to remove the Dogfood cheetah since it
is the cluster name. We don't have any procedure right now to replace
Cheetahs by Bobcats. You cannot just swap the flashes since the code is
different. We'll have to find out what procedure would work.

All,

As we are going to be removing the two original Cheetahs from our
Mightydog cluster (named Dogfood). Our first cheetah node in the cluster
is named Dogfood. If it is removed, will there be any issues?

Kevin
