Subject: RE: SystemX management shell documents to review

I like what you have done with the highly desirable and desirable
sections. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to smash my keyboard
when ? or tab complete would not work. I think you have the greatest
pain points covered.

Other desirables would be.

To have the ability to enter the OS, and exit and be right back where
you were from the shell. I have seen this on some systems and have no
idea how difficult it would be to impliment
I,E. If I was in the context of the virtual server, to be able to type
host, and be back in the OS prompt. Then I exit that shell, go back
where I was.

JG> This is in fact the way it works. There is no OS that is separate
from the shell I'm talking about here, they are one and the same.

To pipe the output from our shell to basic utilities from our shell like
grep, sed , awk and more (or less). Makes things a little more flexible
without having to create a script.

JG> Again that is the way it works, this will be bash, just like when
you log into your Linux desktop today. Whether we provide sed and awk
is part of that TBD list of applications we want available to admins.
There are many we could include, it will be fun to work it out.

Dave

If you are on the TO line you are a required reviewer but I would really
appreciate any feedback I can get.

This document describes the interactive administrator login environment
and is a major area where ease of use needs to be worked into the
product.
