Chris,

This is one time change the filer has to undergo, when user transits =
from pre-new-first-install to new-first-install.=20

From there on, user will not be prompted for any questions during =
subsequent upgrades.

=20

In pre-new-first-install:

ClusterDB file (/usr/local/agile/conf/cluster.db.DB0) worked as =
semaphore file. During booting, rc checks for cluster DB presence.

If the file was not found, then it invokes rc.initial to get =
configuration parameters.

=20

In new-first-install:

Here on a new file (/usr/local/agile/conf/nasgwayinit.status) will work =
as the semaphore file.

On upgrade, as the above mentioned semaphore file is unavailable, nfxsh =
prompts the user with first time install dialog.

=20

Regards,

S.Sripal.

Is it intentional that if we upgrade to submittal 10 that we STILL get =
the initial config dialog when we run nfxsh? Your note made it sound =
like I should have zero side effects if I did an upgrade, and that there =
was nothing else I needed to do other than upgrade?

=20

Is it also intentional that we panic bsd? (2 of 2 filers)

Subject: Zonda sub 10 & Initial Configuration

=20

Submittal 10 incorporates the new initial configuration code which =
allows a user to use an Ethernet cable in addition to a serial cable to =
configure a filer. If you NFS mount your /usr/local/agile/* directories =
without upgrading the machine with zonda sub 10:

=20

1. Whenever you run nfxsh and if the filer was not configured with the
new initial config, nfxsh will throw the initial config questions on the
screen. This may be new to someone who does not know about the new
initial config method.

2. Even if you decide to answer the question, you will end up
with the following error message

"Cannot copy pmtab.all to pmtab". You need to copy pmtab.all and
pmtab.init as mentioned in point below.

To get the full benefit of new initial config, you have to copy the
following openbsd files or upgrade the filer to the new build that has
intial config checkin changes.

//depot/dev/nfx-tree/code/ssc-pm/pmtab.all -> /usr/local/agile/etc

//depot/dev/nfx-tree/code/ssc-pm/pmtab.init -> /usr/local/agile/etc

//depot/dev/openbsd/src/etc/dhclient.conf -> /etc

//depot/dev/openbsd/src/etc/netstart -> /etc

//depot/dev/openbsd/src/etc/rc -> /etc

//depot/dev/openbsd/src/usr.sbin/dhcp/dhclient/scripts/dhclient-script
-> /sbin

//depot/dev/nfx-tree/code/ssc-pm/rc.agile -> /usr/local/agile/etc
