Mike/Charissa,
=20
Initial config has been changed in sub #10 and rc.initial no longer =
blocks the boot process to accept config details from the user. Instead, =
nfxsh checks to see if the filer has been configured and prompts for the =
config details if the filer has not been configured. A semaphore file =
"/usr/local/agile/conf/nasgwayinit.status" holds the configuration =
status for the filer. Earlier the clusterDB was used as this semaphore =
file. A separate file "/usr/local/agile/conf/nasgwayinit.conf" holds the =
config details for the filer.
=20
For people NFS mounting their agile directories, the system would boot =
to the same configuration as before - therefore the ip address etc would =
be the same as before and one could ssh into the filer and copy these =
files. The only issue would be that nfxsh does not "know" that the filer =
is already configured as the files listed above are missing. Therefore, =
suggest the following:
=20
1. Please copy the files pmtab.all and pmtab.init to /etc *BEFORE* =
starting to answer the questions posed by nfxsh. When logging in as root =
- you may copy the files before starting nfxsh or you may even kill =
nfxsh (when being prompted for first time install config) to copy these =
files over and restart the configuration process by restarting nfxsh.
=20
2. The problem of answering the configuration questions only exists for =
the *FIRST* time a filer moves from a pre-zonda-sub10 release to a =
zonda-sub10 or later release that includes the new first_time_install. =
This problem - once again - is only for developers NFS mounting their =
agile directories. All machines that update using "system upgrade" shld =
be fine (there will be no errors, but the first time install questions =
have to be answered nevertheless as mentioned above).=20
=20
3. There was a problem with the build due to which all of this code did =
not somehow make it into the release. We are working with Ken to resolve =
the problem.
=20
Hope this clears the confusion.
Sripal.

2. Even if you decide to answer the question, you will end up
with the following error message
"Cannot copy pmtab.all to pmtab". You need to copy pmtab.all and
pmtab.init as mentioned in point below.

Charissa,=20
=20
Since we would be stuck in the initial config menu, how do we copy the =
two files listed to the /usr/local/agile/etc directory, since scp would =
not work.
=20
Thanks.

=09

	Submittal 10 incorporates the new initial configuration code which =
allows a user to use an Ethernet cable in addition to a serial cable to =
configure a filer. If you NFS mount your /usr/local/agile/* directories =
without upgrading the machine with zonda sub 10:

	=20

	1. Whenever you run nfxsh and if the filer was not configured with the
	new initial config, nfxsh will throw the initial config questions on =
the
	screen. This may be new to someone who does not know about the new
	initial config method.
=09
	2. Even if you decide to answer the question, you will end up
	with the following error message
=09
	"Cannot copy pmtab.all to pmtab". You need to copy pmtab.all and
	pmtab.init as mentioned in point below.
=09
	To get the full benefit of new initial config, you have to copy the
	following openbsd files or upgrade the filer to the new build that has
	intial config checkin changes.

	//depot/dev/nfx-tree/code/ssc-pm/pmtab.all -> /usr/local/agile/etc

	//depot/dev/nfx-tree/code/ssc-pm/pmtab.init -> /usr/local/agile/etc
=09
	//depot/dev/openbsd/src/etc/dhclient.conf -> /etc
=09
	//depot/dev/openbsd/src/etc/netstart -> /etc
=09
	//depot/dev/openbsd/src/etc/rc -> /etc
=09
	//depot/dev/openbsd/src/usr.sbin/dhcp/dhclient/scripts/dhclient-script
	-> /sbin
=09
	//depot/dev/nfx-tree/code/ssc-pm/rc.agile -> /usr/local/agile/etc
