Recommendation:


Be aware that new orders placed for 300 GB FC Drives will come with the
new Seagate Timberland RC 10K 4Gbps Fibre Channel Drives


Technical Details:

The Hitachi Python 10k 2Gbps Fibre Channel Drives are being replaced by
LSI with the Seagate Timberland RC 10K 4Gbps Fibre Channel Drives. With
these new drives, all enclosure units should now have the link rate
switch set to 4Gbps for best performance. Continue to use the 2Gbps
setting if you have the old style drives


Solution:


The link rate switch for each enclosure making up a storage array (DRC +
JBD) must be the same - either 4Gbps or 2Gbps. If you have Seagate
Timberland RC 10K drives (New Orders), all trays should be set to 4Gbps.

Older systems Hitachi Python Drives will continue to require the 2Gbps
mode.
