/etc/network/interface file=20

1) Do a manual edit or flash install to bring the interfaces file to new
file format. These changes have occurred during sub#8 or later (per
developer)

2) During flash install answer NO and No for both questions and later do
a system config copy to bring the file to New format.

3) There already exists a defect on this issue.

Sripal

1) Interface file in wrong format???=20

How could be if it was not created by user (No manual edit) so this is
defect with software and need be to taken care by software=20

2) Not valid work flow???=20

If this was NOT a valid workflow then this is again defect with software
need to be fixed. (Flash install menu provides those options and hence
it is valid work flow)

3) What you have suggested is a workaround solution for the defect which
exists currently. If this is the only solution then this need to be
documented as release notes for field installations.

4) I see this as an issue only when bobcat to Cougar migration happens
and may not be an issue with NEW fresh systems being installed in the
field.

5) My 2 cents, the software need to verify the file format before
copying and if required only append the new format to the interface
file.

Any other questions and your thoughts please let me know.

Thanks
Manohar

Manohar,

You have chosen to copy configuration files from secondary during boot=20
time (which is in wrong format). This is not valid work flow to move to=20
new interface file format. When you have interface file in wrong format,

then the behavior is going to be same for either "system config reset"=20
or flash install. You should choose "n" to both the question asked by=20
flash install. After boot up, answer the FTI questions (You should not=20
choose to load configuration file from secondary). Now your interface=20
file will move to new file format. Once you move to proper file format,=20
you will not face any kind of issues. Perform "system config copy" to=20
update secondary flash to new file format. Please let me know your
thoughts.

Regards,
Sripal.
