Oh, sure, I know that. You know that, Max knows that. But none of us
maintain that tool! Sandrine does and fixing the tool is not her highest
priority. Max has been entering junk in the required fields since
forever. QA is well aware of this. It's screwing with people writing
meaningful queries and he knows it. So his response to me was
particularly obnoxious.

What he was saying is fix the tool so that only valid data can be
entered into the field.  If no garbage allowed in, then no garbage out.
