I purged old tar files earlier this week but when I couldn't complete =
the submittal process for the second time in a week, something had to be =
done.

10.2.0.2 is not a public ftp server. The upgrade account is not meant to =
be a guest account that any random user should use. It has a well known =
password for convience of testing and to allow automation scripts to =
work easily with this server. The implications are its use requires an =
honor system where forethought and restraint must be exercised.

Ken used to keep a tight rein on me and others when it came to using =
this system. However, the random use of the upgrade account and dumping =
of odd bits and pieces in the /home/upgrade directory appears to gotten =
out of control. It is time to restore discipline.

Just don't delete the local nis maps. Speaking of which do we keep a =
copy of localnis in p4.=20

I know some of that stuff seems random but it may or may not be =
important. Sometimes we need to ftp other data to the systems other then =
OS.=20

There cvertainly was somethings that I had there that were probably not =
vital. No not my mp3 and pics:). I think there may have been some rpms =
or temp like like stuff floating in /home for various setup on stargate. =

I believe Ken would pull the oldest everon images off if space became an =
issue. Kind of like a retention policy and since they are only the =
tarballs, they can be regenerated.=20

Folks,
/home/upgrade is 100% full on 10.2.0.2. This ftp server is used as =
the official system for Releases and Release submittals. Only =
distribution files used by system upgrade, patches, install scripts, and =
other necessary items used for QA and Development of releases should be =
stored here.

Looks like several people are using it as a private dumping ground for =
only Buddha knows what.

I am taking out the trash.=20

Please refrain from dumping random stuff onto this valuable and limited =
resource. If you need an internal ftp server use your Linux desktop.

Thank you and have a nice day,

Larry
