Andy,

I do not know all the details - but in general:

FTI sync's the time with the NTP server just before rebooting the filer
and on BSD, I believe, the command 'ntpdate' was used to accomplish
this. This command is not available on the current CG Linux installation
and Sripal determined that its available in the package you just pointed
out was deprecated.=20

His question, I expect, would be how the ntp synchronization is supposed
to happen on Linux.

Unfortunately, I do not know the details here - but if you could make
something meaningful out of all the gibberish I just spewed and point us
to the next steps (even if it's just RTFM), Sripal could save a day
tomorrow without having to wait on us.

Thanx and sorry if what I just said makes absolutely no sense,
Narain.

Sripal,

This package is deprecated and replaced with ntp. You should not have
to do anything with ntp, all the hooks are there to work with dhcp and
network hotplugging (the network settings changing, etc.). Is there
something specific that you are having trouble with?
