Andy,

On customer systems when we run out of space, it is almost always /var. =
If I read your document right, you propose dedicating extra space almost =
entirely to /usr/local/onstor (n=E9e agile) and its writable conf =
subdir. I would recommend stealing some of that for /var -- at least =
40MB.

Things that frequently fill /var:

- Daemon core files (/var/run), especially bulky ones like nfxsh, which =
can be 18MB
- ndmpd.trace files
- elogs, especially when you have a berzerk process that logs 2-3 lines =
per second
- CIFS/Samba logs, which grow forever, albeit slowly

On the other hand, the data in /usr/local/{agile,onstor}, and even conf, =
are somewhat static.

P.S. This is the first design review document I've ever commented on. =
Not sure if I'm supposed to reply to the whole list...

Oops, I meant to attach a .doc as well for the Open Document impaired
who lurk invisible among us.

Cheers,
