Hi Andy,

Some of us talked to an OS candidate a few weeks back, and after the
interview, we were basically in agreement that he was well-rounded in
many areas but lacked depth in OS.  We thought he could pick up OS
development with the right person guiding him.  Now that you've had a
chance to dive in to our stuff some, I was hoping I could ask for some
advice. =20

First, I was wondering if you were yet in a position to gauge whether
another resource was necessary in our OS efforts.  As we've discussed,
we first need to decide how we're going to move forward on Cougar, and
we'll then want to do the same work on Bobcat.  Second, assuming you
think another resource is needed, please take a look at Steve Herrick's
resume that I've attached.  I don't think he'll blow you away on paper,
but his willingness to learn really jumped out to all of us.  If you
agree, maybe we could schedule some time for you and Steve to talk on
the phone or even have him come back in.  Third, as someone with a
wealth of OS experience, think about whether mentoring someone like
Steve is something that you're interested in.

Let me know what you think, and it's perfectly ok if you need more time
to come up to speed.  Other than a pushy recruiter who doesn't know how
to listen, there's not a rush in us talking with Steve again.  Also, if
you know of any other candidates for this position, please let me know.
