For now, I just added one line to the filer setup doc to setup the CIFS
domain before CIFS share to make it correctly. We can move around the
information later.

Thanks

Henry

Completely agree. I was being a bit cynical about CIFS.=20
The CIFS info needs to be in the howto and I would not make it optional.
All filers should be setup to support the testing of all features in our
system.  =20

It is true the system can be setup with nfs domain only. In the past, I
was debugging idmap/quota defects that needs the cifs server setup too.
It is helpful if we can add the information for the cifs in the filer
setup doc and mention that as optional requirement for filer to run.

You only need to define cifs shares and a windows domain if you plan to
used cifs. It will work just fine with out defining any of the cifs
stuff. This is
how I typically run my filers. Not sure why anyone would choose to use
cifs
if they have linux/nfx available.

Henry:
I thought a virtual server can be either cifs, nfs, or both.
So, as long as the virtual server is defined and in context, then the
cifs share can be created. Please correct the entry if as necessary.
Thanks!

Hi Mike,

It won't work unless you add the cifs server too.

Henry:
I added the CIFs info, as taken from the training course we attended.
Thnx.

It works except it misses the CIFS setting.

Hi Guys:

Have you followed these steps for the filer setup?
http://wiki/wiki/Filer_setup

I just noticed this page, per Henry's inquiry, and I've never tried it
out.
However, most of the steps look correct.
