I think this is a good idea. =20

=20

Sounds like each person signed up will get a trial username/password.

=20

If you are *not* interested in being a trial user of the Safari online
book site, please reply to Jeseem. =20

=20

Otherwise, Jeseem you could add everyone receiving this email (name,
email, and *work* phone number). Feel free to forward to anyone else
who might be interested.

=20

Thanks.

Hi Jay,

I had communicated with a popular online book site called
Safari books.

They have around 3500 online books, ORielly and range of other
publishers.

Also a very useful feature from them is search inside the all online
books, to find matching books and chapters.

=20

I got a reference for this from a friend in Cisco (Cisco has subscribed
safaronline for all there employees).

=20

So should we try out a 30-day free pilot?

=20

Forwarding the mail from there contact person

=20

PS: I was initially looking for a personal prescription only, but
figured might be useful for onstor.

Hello-

=20

Thank you for your interest in Safari Tech Books Online
(www.safaribooksonline.com). I will be your Safari representative and
will work closely with you to get your pilot up and running, and answer
any questions that you might have.=20

As you probably know, Safari has over 3,900 titles from industry leading
Publishers like O'Reilly Media and Pearson Technology among the many
others, Safari is also the only online book repository where programmers
can filter searches on "code fragments only" leading them directly to
the strings of code or examples they need to solve the problem at hand,
in a matter of seconds. Plus, users can cut and paste code directly,
helping to virtually eliminate programming errors. These tools will
dramatically compress research time up to 75%, saving 1000's of hours
annually.=20

Some of the benefits that Safari would bring to your organization would
be as follows:=20

1) Quality data from the Leading publishers in the industry (The only
outlet to gain access to the O'Reilly & Pearson Titles Online)=20
2) Quicker, faster problem solving; A great research tool=20
3) Quick and accurate answers using intuitive search technology=20
4) Carefully selected, relevant references=20
5) A Virtual Library with desktop access for anyone licensed=20

What this means to you is that Safari will help increase revenues by
reducing costs while improving the company's capabilities!=20

Safari is not a shared service, so you must purchase a license for each
user that you want to give access to. We require a minimum number of
users to qualify for a corporate account. The cost of a corporate
subscription is based on the number of users subscribing as a group, and
the plan or combination of plans that your group subscribes to.=20

Safari Whole Library - Requires a minimum of 5 users for a pilot or
subscription. This version allows complete and unlimited access to each
and every title in the Safari Collection (currently there are 3,900
titles and climbing), as well as all the titles that are added during
the course of the subscription. Licensed users will have no limitation
on the number of books they can add or remove from their bookshelf in
any given month. Also, titles can be added or swapped out with no
mandatory 30 day wait period.=20

=20

Safari Bookshelf Library - Requires a minimum of 10 users for a pilot or
subscription. This version does not allow you to have full access to all
of the books. Each user would be assigned a specific number of slots
that would allow them to add books to their bookshelf. They would be
able to search across thousands of books in preview mode. To gain full
access to a book, they would add it to their bookshelf. Each book must
remain on the bookshelf for a period of thirty days before it can be
exchanged for a different book. Once the bookshelf is full (all of the
slots have been used), no more books can be added to the bookshelf
unless you are able to exchange a book or you upgrade the account to a
larger number of slots.=20

=20

I would suggest by starting with an enterprise-wide pilot to help
determine the usage patterns and number of users needed to be purchased.
We would work with you to create a simple batch registration to help get
the users activated. In addition, we would deliver customized e-mails
and promotional material to you to help "Get The Word Out" announcing
the Safari pilot. If you chose to do a free 30 day pilot of Safari...=20

All users who participate would have access to every page in every book
in the Safari Whole Library. Users can search across more than three
thousand nine hundred books simultaneously, flip to the exact chapter
and section they need and read the content immediately online. Near the
end of the trial users will be sent an online survey requesting their
feedback which we will aggregate to help you make the best possible
purchasing decision.=20

To get started, simply send me a list of participants including First
Name, Last Name, E-mail and Phone number. Safari will e-mail users their
username and passwords. I have attached an excel spreadsheet to help
deliver this information to us. Please us the person's last name for the
password as well. If you are looking to do a pilot of more than 50
users, I will contact you and determine the best means to deliver the
users their passwords. It is important that you ask your team to adjust
Spam block parameters to receive e-mails from
customer-service@safaribooksonline.com.

I look forward to hearing from you soon to start this pilot.=20

Best regards,=20
