Josh-san

Thank you for the knowladge.
I understand this problem is not unique to ONStor (caused by RPC's
AUTH_SYS).=20
In my understanding, using Kerberos V5 with NFSv3 or v4 may be solve
this problem.

Before discussing this, I will talk with SGI more what customer really
want.

Best Regards,

Murata san,

The main problem is with the NFS clients, not the server. Even if we
changed the NFS server to accept more than 16 supplemental GID's the
individual NFS clients only send 16 - they would have to modify all of
their clients with custom AUTH_SYS code. This is really more an NFS
client problem, not unique to ONStor.=20

Thank you Sudheesh-san,

It might be one of the FAQ...

Well, I have understood that I need to submit PVR if I got the strong
request from SGI for the deal on Toyota, Matsuda, Yamaha...
though it may be difficult to get acceptance..

I will talk more with SGI.

Best Regards,
Yasuhiro Murata

Murata san:

We just had this come up in a sales situation here recently. This is a
limitation with Auth_Sys and NFS. Here is a link from one of my our old
Zambeel fellow (now at NetApp) explaining the deal

Subject: [Q]Customer needs to have 50 GID per user(UID) in NFS env.

Hello,

SGI Japan have some expected customers who are manufacture like Toyota,
Yamaha, Matsuda.

These customers use NAS under their design system like CAD.
And they need to share design data with more than 50 partner companies
outside of his company.

In this environment, each user(UID) needs to have more than 50 unix
groups(GIDs) I think this is done by /etc/group

I mean bobcat needs to handle about 50 GIDs per UID to propose these
customers.

[Question]
Q1. I hear from SGI guy that NFSv3 can handle maximum 16 GIDs per UID.
        Is this understanding correct?

Q2. If Q1 is correct, does ONStor handle 50GIDs per UID?
SGI guy says that ONStor need to support NFSv4 or
KerberosV5&NFSv3.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
