Well no, that was not the source of the problem at all. The source of
the original problem that brought my internet down was almost certainly
due to some kind of error by a PacBell technician. Things were working
just fine for years before that Friday. I was even told by someone
that PacBell testing was finding some sort of line disruption or high
noise issue, usually caused by cross wiring somewhere. The testing
results I saw when the Covad technicians were at my house could not be
caused by any kind of high load situation.

And also no, it was at 1.5Mb before it all went south 2.5 weeks ago. At
1.5, trouble free, for years.

Granted, it never quite sync'd at the full 1.5, but I don't have a
problem with that; I realize it would be difficult to do so given the
distance issue.

Oh no, you don't want to start the excuses already. Please be aware
that after we get 1.5 going, I'm going to insist that we try 3.0. Best
to save the excuses for then. Don't even think about trotting out any
excuses before then.

Just like 10 years ago when I first got DSL from meer.net, the distance
issue was raised, and the strategy of "let's try it and see" showed
that it works quite well within my bounds of satisfaction.
