Did you do a "df -i" like I said?  Compare the number of used inodes to
the number of files on the partition.  "find /var -print | wc -l"
will tell you how many files are on the partition.  If the two numbers
aren't pretty close, then you've got a problem.  Otherwise you will
just have to look around and find the files that shouldn't be there
taking up inodes.
