I'm the biggest, ugliest audience there is.  Which is my joking way of
saying that I've already discussed this with people.  The bottom line
is not consensus driven, however.  It's technical.  There is no law
that says a network has to have a gateway or a router.  It's quite
possible that a customer has a filer sitting on a network with one; in
fact, we know of customers with such configurations. Therefore it is
incorrect to make it a required field. We can do a "are you sure" and
stuff like that in the interface if the user doesn't enter one, but we
can't require it.
