The answer is that this has gone nowhere since we last talked.  I'm not
getting a clear answer from Max, who is in denial and whatever all
else.  We had a quick chat yesterday, but I had to take off.  He was
mentioning something about his change, but as far as I'm concerned,
that's for him to protagonize; my current version works and that's that.

I hacked on it quite a bit last night, and the answer from all of that
is that what I had at the end of last week is still the best answer
currently.
