What do you think about this: checkins can go to dev branch, but you
can use the r402rel branch to do this prom release from.  Would that
cause any problems for Ops?  So you could make your checkin to dev and
integrate just that one to the r402rel branch.

That ability has not been removed: the load command is still there in
the prom as before, and there is a new commnand 'old_autolod' but I
seriously doubt it will ever be used.

It isn't needed.  If someone was being silly and wanted to do it, they
could just modify the script by adding a tftp command to get the file
onto the CF and then have the load program load that file instead of
the default one.  So really in that case it supports FTP and scp as
well as tftp.
