Subject should have said "Snow Leopard Server" ... had me confused for
a bit. I read the first paragraph of this article where it says only
some non-functional, read-only silly-version of ZFS is available on
shipping Leopard, and I thought, man, that's weird, I tried out ZFS on
my lappy and it worked just fine. But then later on they do mention
that you can get the fully functional ZFS through the developer
channel, which is where I got it. But I never figured out how to make
ZFS the root filesystem. Nor did I try very hard. It might not be
possible. But as to their contention that it "isn't available through
the fancy user interface", first I would like to say, what fancy user
interface? Next I would like to say: uh, baloney. Once you mount a
ZFS filesystem, it's as available as any other. Probably the writer
is not aware of the bug in the Finder app that fails to show mounted
filesystems besides the root filesystem. But ZFS is quite the resource
hog on a little air-brained laptop.

Cheers,
