OK, I was wondering if it has to do with the ramfs creation.  Is there
not an option to shutup er- quiet the message from mount.mfs?

It's a silly hack that is little more than conceit and has no effect on
performance on any media.  IMHO.  Certainly not on Bobcats.  If you see
an opportunity to hard-code it to space, by all means take it.
