Hi Jay,

I just thought I would drop you a note about something I think should be
brought up, either in the software meeting or some other time. But it's
come to my attention that we don't do snapshots on our home directories.
Kevin from IT said it's because we don't have enough storage for it.
Unfortunately I didn't get more information on that.

So the question is 'Is this an oversight, a budget decision, or
some other decision?'

I've mentioned this to Tim. He agrees with me that we really should
snapshots turned on for our home directories, both to test and exercise
a key feature of our product, and to make things a bit more efficient
for developers who would like to occassionally utilize such snapshots,
but currently are relegated to submitting a help desk ticket (to have
a directory or file restored) that may or may not be completed in the
next 3-4 weeks.

Tim said I should bring it up in the software meeting, but now I'm
wondering why not handle it with a memo to my boss ~:^)

I've asked Kevin and he says ... snarf, Kevin is not around, so I have
no more information on the why.

Cheers,

a
