I had a chat with some guys that are pretty hot on "helping" us by
designing our lab for us (I kid. Actually they were totally cool.)
Apparently this is the kind of thing they do for a living. For LSI.
So that's great. They seem to be of same mind as myself with respect
to converting over to copper for data networking, and building out the
lab with cisco 3750e and smaller switches, and that's just what I was
thinking, so we're in agreement there. We (US and THEM) will jointly
put together a plan of attack for doing this.

So that takes care of the data network area. And apparently Karen has
mind-melded with LSI facilities over the cooling and power stuff.

So that leaves just the storage part. We're going to re-provision the
SAN switch arena with cisco's, that's pretty well known at this point.
But what I think we need is a plan for revamping the storage in there.
Swapping out some old racks full of ancient and/or Dot Hill storage and
replacing it with some modern, denser storage from LSI. Shawn, I'm
thinking that's really your forte so I'm hoping you'll want to tackle
that. This is our chance, I believe, to get all that kind of stuff
from LSI to make our lab the sweetest, so let's go for it. This will
be a more complicated task than just switching out the fiber for copper
on the data networking side, obviously, and will take more work. But
well worth it, and fun to boot.

Yes, I'll be sure to shoot myself later for being so #!@^!# perky. But
the prospect of all this yummy new hardware just makes me feel like a
young girl again.

Cheers,

a
