Howdy,

You have generously been selected to be a rater in my 360 voices
torture^W feedback process.

BTW, although I like to make fun, I am taking this seriously.  The more
effort you folks put into it, the more I'll get out of it, so I do
appreciate your participation.  Thanks mucho.  Also, as far as I can
tell, some of the folks I'm asking to help out here may have to
go through this themselves at some future time, so scratch my
back and I'll scratch yours.  I kid.  Or do I?

Here is the correct text for this invitation:

I am participating in a 360-degree feedback program, and I would like
you to participate in this process with me.

360-degree feedback is a process that will gather input from my
co-workers (self, boss, peers, direct reports, customers) and others on
competencies. Competencies are measurable characteristics of a person
that are related to success at work, whether a behavioral skill, a
technical skill, an attribute (such as intelligence), or an attitude
(such as optimism). The results from this feedback may help me to
understand how others perceive my skill level on these competencies --
and the importance of them for my position -- thus enabling me to
target developmental goals. (For those of you have participated in
other 360-degree feedback programs like 4 Roles or 7 Habits, this is
similar except that it focuses on competencies.)

Your involvement in this process will be completion of a 360-degree
survey.  My objectives for requesting your involvement are [ add your
own words here ].

You will receive an email notification from the Lominger Global Survey
Center.  The subject line of this email notification will indicate that
I have requested 360-degree feedback from you, so please don't trash it!
The notification will supply you with your internet login instructions
and password to their secure web survey.   You will simply need to
follow the instructions to access the survey.

Except for my manager, all survey responses are confidential and
anonymous.  The resulting feedback report will display the results as
averaged data, by relationship.  For example, if two Peers respond,
their scores will be averaged together and displayed on the report.
If only one Peer responds, that data will not be displayed.  The survey
will allow you to provide me with written comments, either specific to a
competency or for general comments.  I encourage you to use this
feature.

It will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete the survey, but
your taking the time to provide candid and honest responses, including
additional comments will be very valuable to me.  Providing specific
examples of situations or behaviors will be most useful.  I realize
we're all stretched, but I would appreciate your cooperation in
completing and returning the survey as quickly as possible.

If you have questions or concerns about participating in this feedback
process, please contact me within the next three workdays, as I will
be submitting your name to the Lominger Global Survey Center as one of
my raters.
