Thanks for the reply, Erica.  Yes, sometimes it's necessary to put a
vendor's feet to the fire, we are paying them for this, after all.

I understand that being a hopeless holdout, sometimes my browser might
not work very well, and I expect to pay that price from time to time.
But it is frustrating to be completely denied access.

I'll try the agere thing and see what I can do.
