No, I wasn't able to resolve the issues.  I downloaded and installed
IE6 onto my laptop, no mean feat since it's not a Windows laptop, but
had further issues, which I explained in an email to the help desk in
December, but I've not heard back since then.

It's a shame that these apps are such a nightmare.  They shouldn't be.
Because you asked so nicely that I have patience, I spent some
time figuring out how to install a Windows-only app, IE6, on my Mac
laptop. It works for any app that we have that doesn't do a separate
pop-up window.  For some reason IT loves to do those, but can't supply
me with a non-pop-up URL to access these other apps, like expense
report and self review.  Or at least there's been no response to my
request for such a thing.  I even tried the emulated desktop app that
is available on the agere web site, but the self review app crashes it.

Currently the plan cooked up by my boss is to give me access to a
Windows machine using VNC remote desktop.  I've not had time to try
that yet.
