Except that it's manual and it only has one head.  I assume then that
you're volunteering to change the tapes? ~:^) And I haven't seen any
tapes for it.  Current doesn't concern me much.  It's 800 with
compression, yes, so really 500?

And it ain't cool at all.

But come to think of it, we should definitely use both.

netbackup: yes, we should use that too.

Using amanda will be useful for a couple of reasons: we can start right
away as there's no licence issues or payments to be made; because we
have source and gdb, we can debug things from the app direction not
just the wire or the filer.
