Forget about rcon, it really doesn't have much meaning any more. It
was a substitute for having a user space and/or a generic, stable
interface to export information from the running eee code.

Using the serial console on the 1480 running tuxstor is no different
[or difficult] than using the SSC serial console.

You can ssh from the ssc to the tuxstor via the mgmtbus (which acts as
a network interface point-to-point between the two CPUs). You can use
the serial console as well, which is what we are all doing. You can
also ssh to the tuxstor from any other machine. The machine that's
serving the NFS root filesystem can directly access the files of that
filesystem.

If you want to look at a running root filesystem, peruse the config
files and whatnot, you can log into ripper.onstor.net, and
peruse /var/nfsroot/tuxrx, which is my NFS root for my filer. I can
make a copy of it for you if you like, which you then can install
wherever makes you happy, and use it [with some modifications -- don't
use my IP address, etc] as your NFS root fs.

Think of the SSC and the 1480/tuxstor as two normal Linux machines, but
also with a PtP network cable between them with the word 'mgmtbus'
written on it.

Cheers,

a
