Subject: cross build packages for mipsel

I'm just sending this to the list, but likely right now only Larry will
care. I've put a set of packages (*.deb for people using the
intelligent distro, *.rpm for everyone else) in the
directory /n/software/cougar/mipsel-cross-toolchain

You should be able to install these packages on your system and build
applications targeted for the mipsel arch. If you don't know how to
install these packages and how to use them after they are installed,
then you probably don't need to.

These are just to jumpstart the process of scoping and porting, and are
not production level tools. These packages won't be used to create
a standard build environment. I'm not saying we won't go that way,
just that if we do, it won't be these packages. Just something so that
Larry can get started on some things. To build a kernel, many
non-standard options to this gcc will be needed, so don't use this for
building a kernel. I know 10 or 20 of you were going to do that if I
didn't stop you.

If you think you want to use this stuff, but don't know how, come talk
to me. Chances are you really don't want to. So really this is just
for Larry at the moment.

Cheers,

a
