You did something wrong because I tried it as I described and it built
the packages I listed.  Make sure you start from scratch -- no failed or
even succeeded builds laying around in that directory.  basically do an
apt-get source glibc, cd to the directory and then run the
dpkg-buildpackage command.  worked for me (tm).
